Trip Insurance - Is it Really Necessary?
Summertime is coming and the waves of Bali are calling.
John dashed off to phone his usual travel agency.
On the second ring, a woman asked, "Travel International, may I help you?" Her question rendered him speechless. He realized that he hadn't planned this trip thoroughly. So instead of answering, he hanged up.
He asked himself, "Should I be covered with travel insurance on this trip?"
Last year's trip to Australia for some surfing competition was smooth and hassle-free. He was fully covered at that time so he never used nor filed for any claim on his insurance policy. So he thought, travel insurance is just a waste of money.
This is a common idea and feeling of most travelers. They think that nothing will happen to them and the feeling that they will just waste their money on trip insurance that they will never utilize. But we cannot blame people when they think this way. The fact that every traveler would as much as possible want to have a safe and sound trip, buying trip insurance might mean opening the possibilities of accidents during the trip- a common misconception of every traveler.
But whether you like it or not, you cannot ignore the possibility that things may go wrong in an unexpected time and in an unexpected circumstance. This calls for the travelers to realize the importance of having a wall to lean on when worst comes to worst.
Trip insurance works this way. It works to protect each traveler whenever things do not end up as planned. And you have to remove the thought that trip insurance does not automatically qualify to cover the expenses when accidents happen during the trip.
Trip insurance comes in a wide variety of policies you can choose from. It insures your reimbursements on non-refundable fees, baggage lost or damaged, expenses for accidents, emergency evacuation, and more.
Just think about the headache it will bring when your trip was canceled due to unforseen events. Although you can get your money back, it would not be as much as you have given. Trip insurance, specifically "travel cancellation insurance" would take care of the non-refundable fees you deserve to get. Since trip cancellation insurance accepts virtually any reason for the cause of the trip to be canceled (except for canceling the trip only because you changed your mind), you can assure to get 100% of your money back.
You would never know if someone happens to have accidentally picked up you luggage at the airport or if your luggage was damaged due to handing. If your luggage is not insured, retrieving it could mean additional expenses and wasted time not to mention losing some of your property and valuables. The trip insurance guarantees to pay the worth of the luggage lost or damage depending on the policy.
And when you are happily enjoying your vacation but then disaster strikes; you got hit by a truck or get infected with a local epidemic. Who would pay for all the emergency expenses if you don't have trip insurance? Trip insurance will make sure you will not have to spend a dime for hospital expenses or emergency evacuation in accord with the policy.
Now you may ask again"Do I really need travel insurance?" You know what the wise answer will be.
