Hawaii Vacation – Discover the Beauty of Paradise and Aloha

Discovering the best of Hawaii could take a lifetime of vacations. Or you could ask the local residents for their personal favorites – from scenic and cultural attractions to great places to eat and stay.

You might think Hawaiians would be weary of “aloha”. The salutation is everywhere, from TV and magazine advertisements to license plates to the side of jetliners. Yet the word is still meaningful because Hawaii’s culture remains strong enough to deflect corporate sloganeering.

Every vacationer that visits Hawaii quickly falls in love with the beauty of the islands and the locals are just as susceptible.

Hawaiian ecotourism is now as hot as stem from Kilauea Volcano. Planeloads of travelers arrive in Hawaii to kayak, whale watch, hike, or bike the islands. The best place to find information on sites and tours is from the Hawaii Ecotourism Association. Other good resources are the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club and the Sierra Club’s Hawaii chapter.

English is universally spoken in the 50th state, but Hawaiian words and expressions are used by islanders more than most mainlanders realize. Once considered a social handicap, Hawaiian is making a comeback in the islands.

Hawaii Vacation Attractions

Like the dawn of a new world, Haleakala Volcano, on Maui, reveals its rugged face at sunrise, a spectacle that prompts travelers to brave the cold.

For a windsurfers delight, check out the wild surf off Maui’s Ho ‘okipa Beach. This is a beach windsurfers travel for thousands of mile to surf.

The Waimea Canyon is a spectacular way to see what the islands looked like before they were touched by man. The beauty is breathtaking and surreal.

Most important for a great Hawaii vacation, visitors need to decide exactly what sort of experience they want. Is it luxury you are after? Are you looking for economy? Do you want an ocean or a mountain view? Interest and wallets dictate the choice of lodgings.

Hawaii is not just a giant beach. People fail to realize that the state is extremely diverse. The place you stay can be anything you want. There are lavish peel-me-a-grape resorts like the romantic Hyatt Regency on Kauai, and then you have these funky motels with tiki torches where you’d swear that Elvis is going to walk through the doors any minute.

Where To Stay While On Vacation In Hawaii

Many travelers bypass hotels to spend their vacation in private condos or guest quarters. Such home-style accommodations can be a great way to experience the islands daily rhythms. A lot of locals think so. Many vacationers think “what’s the point of staying in a huge resort with thousands of other travelers?” It really depends upon what you want out of your Hawaii vacation experience.

To locate home-style accommodations you can simply search the internet with the islands name, followed by “vacation rental” or “B&B”. There are also plenty of vacation rental agencies that will give you several listings that fit your style. Always take the time to ask what types of amenities are available and what are the cancellation fees?

Your local travel agent can help you with a vacation package if you are interested in an all inclusive vacation in a luxury resort. Again, be sure to know what you’re paying for before you book reservations for your Hawaiian vacation.
